我当时的偶像是极简主义和概念艺术家。我也想成为极简主义和概念艺术家，所以我尝试製作一些简单的肖像。我当时真的很想解构肖像的概念，把它带回原点。我想自此以后，人们将会对肖像塑造或是任何图像的拍摄产生新的认识，我们要做的只是突显图像类型的本质，并努力让观者也感受到这一点。
所有不同的系列或主题都来自我的日常生活。我是一个普通人。我读报章和杂志，关注时事并观察周遭的环境。我看不同事物，它们或让我愁，或让我喜，或让我满不在乎。但有些图像会存留在我脑海中好几天，甚至好几个月，如果我发现自己对某些东西念念不忘，我就会开始研究它们以及这个大主题，试图搞清楚到底是什么让我着迷。上世纪八九十年代时只有报纸、杂志和图书馆里的书籍可以供我做研究，但现在有了互联网——那儿什么都有，几乎什么都有，所以我现在几乎都在网上查资料。在这个过程中，我脑海里会浮现出想要创造的图像，尽管它很依稀。之后我会分析这个图像，探究它的本质，直到它变得清晰并成为一个初步的模型。在此基础上，我把最终的图像作品完成，再以系列的形式呈现给大家。
